On September 13, 2023 the Friendship Home honored Tonia Andersen with the 2023 Daisy Award! We are truly blessed to have you on our team!
Words from our Director of Nursing:
Tonia has been with the Friendship Home on and off over the past 16 years. Notice I said off because Tonia left us once, I cried more than once, but then she discovered her true passion is in long-term care and came back. Tonia is a very compassionate and caring nurse that does an incredible job managing the care for our residents. Tonia also served as a preceptor last spring and her student passed her boards and is now one of our night shift charge nurse. Tonia’s passion for caring for our residents is so evident every day she is here. It is very apparent that our residents are always on Tonia’s mind. Tonia goes shopping, brings in veggies from her garden and cooks for the residents when she’s not working.
Tonia, words cannot express my appreciation for all that you do and the fact that you came back to us.
It was clearly Tonia’s fate to become a nurse and we would all agree that God did not go wrong there. I would personally like to thank Tonia for being such a wonderful employee. One that is always willing to step up and help out and is always striving to go that extra mile. We are incredibly lucky to have you at our facility.
Thank you again for all you do!

The DAISY Award was established by The DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an
auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
Look for nomination forms at the reception desk on the ICF unit and near the elevator on the CCDI unit.
