The Norma B. Petersen Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Norma B. Petersen.
Norma was a treasured friend of many, volunteering for years at the Friendship Home. She was known for her humor, described by a friend as “feisty, spunky, and fun, making everyone feel good. She was full of spirit.” She would often recite the many Bible verses she had learned as a child in her rural Kentucky Presbyterian Church. Her favorite was from Proverbs: (5) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (6) in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3: 5-6 (NIV).
Norma strongly believed in pursuing your dreams, encouraging her children that education was the key to a more fulfilling life. As a resident of the Friendship Home for nearly a decade, Norma was very appreciative of the professional and loving care that she received. The Norma B. Peteresen Memorial Nursing Scholarship recognizes and supports those dedicated Friendship Home employees who wish to continue to pursue their educational dreams and goals in the nursing field by completing a LPN or RN program.
The Norma B. Petersen Memorial Scholarship will be available for tuition, books, and other legitimate school needs for students. The scholarship will be made payable directly to the educational institution once a verifiable Student ID number has been received.
